Formerly a partner at Murphy, Falcon & Murphy, Judge Xinis was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 16, 2016 as a district judge on the U.S. District Court, Maryland. President Obama nominated Judge Xinis on March 26, 2015. The American Bar Association rated her Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination. Judge Xinis was a tenacious, and meticulous advocate for her clients with fourteen years of prior experience as an Assistant Federal Public Defender representing individuals charged with the most complex and serious federal crimes, including wire, mail and bank fraud, public corruption, Trade Embargo violations, bribery, tax evasion, as well as drug conspiracies and firearms offenses. Ms. Xinis also represented Grand Jury witnesses, pre-indictment targets of criminal investigations, clients on appeal, and clients with related satellite civil cases. In private practice, she served as counsel and co-counsel on a number of noteworthy cases involving civil rights, carbon monoxide poisoning and others. She graduated from the Yale Law School in 1997.
